Q: How often should I cut my hair to maintain my hairstyle?
A: For men or women's short to medium length hair, the haircut usually last about 6 weeks. If you wait 8 weeks or longer, you will find it unmanageable. For long and healthy hair, instead of having your hair trimmed once or twice a year, you will find that trimming it more regularly will prevent split ends. This will make your hair stronger and will actually help it stay longer.

Q: How do I choose a hairstyle that suits me?
A: The following components are essentials to consider; hair texture, the shape of your face, the proportion of your forehead, cheek bones, chin, shoulders, and your body length. If you choose a hairstyle from a magazine, look at the shape of the model’s face shape and see if it's comparable to yours.

Q: It’s difficult for me to explain to a hairstylist what I want for my hair. How do I find a good stylist?
A: The first and important thing for you to consider when choosing a hairstylist is whether or not he/she is listening to you when you explain what you want for your hair. Make sure the hairstylist is working with you to create the hairstyle you envision. I work with my clients together as a team. It is important for both parties to be open-minded with each other’s suggestions.

Q: What are my commitments when I want to start having hightlights or colour on my hair?
A: Both highlights and colour need to be touched up every 6 – 8 weeks. One popular technique is to have partial highlights or colour, which lasts longer. This method also allows you try a different colour each time.

Q: How do I choose a good colour for my hair?
A: First look at the colour of your eyes and your skin tone. Are they warm or cool colours? You can also check your clothes -- which colour or hue do you wear most often? You can use a fabric or something which is a gold or silver colour, and hold it next to your cheek to see which colour compliments your skin tone and your eyes. Then you can choose the shade. For example, if you choose a red tone, hold the hair colour sample next to your cheek, and compare it to your eyes and skin tone to determine which red is better for you. IE: Mahogany Red (warm, brown tone) or Burgundy Red (cool purple tone).

Q: How can I prevent my highlights or colour from turning yellow or brassy? How can I maintain my vibrant red colour?
A: The chorine in tap water gradually washes away the colour pigment in your hair. To keep your highlights shiny and blond without turning brassy in between salon visits, I highly recommend using a violet base, or ash base shampoo or conditioner once a week. The violet base tones down yellow colours, and the ash base tones down brassy colours. Please consult with your hairstylist to determine which shade to use. Red hair color is similar to a red T-shirt; the red pigment tends to fade faster than other colours. You can use a shampoo and conditioner made for red hair to maintain it's vibrancy. Be sure to choose the proper tone; cool ( purple red) or warm (brown orange).

Q: How important is it to use the right shampoo, conditioner & treatment?
A: Here's my analogy to explain this: if you bought a very expensive 100% Cashmere sweater, would you follow the instructions and have it dry cleaned only, or would you just dump it into the washing machine with your regular detergent? So, if you just had a quality hair colour service, would you choose a heavy detergent based shampoo to strip the colour faster, or professional hair care products to maintain what you have invested for yourself?

Q: How can I learn to style my hair at home?
A: I hold monthly workshops in the salon to teach people step by step how to style their hair at home. With this workshop, you will learn the skills and tools to use to accomplish this. Each participant will have an hour to practice right in the workshop, and thirty minutes to learn what product to use to bring out the best in their haircut.
